Senggigi Beach

An old copy of the Indonesia Handbook, from 1991 has this description in it “The coral and snorkeling at this popular beach area, 6km north of Ampenan, is fantastic-4 straight kms of pure white sand, blue-green sea, and no crowds.”

That is the words that describe what Senggigi is back in the old days. Now two decades later, it seems like the three little islands on the off the northwest coast of Lombok is getting more spotlight. But Senggigi still got its own charm.

Senggigi can be considered as the center of tourism in Lombok Island. It is about 20 minutes north of the outskirts of the island’s capital Mataram and about 55 km southeast of the new Lombok International Airport in Praya or about 2 hours drive to reach Senggigi. If you choose to travel by plane to Lombok, there are various ways to get to Senggigi. You could choose to use either the airport taxi, the airport bus, local transport (The Bemo) or you could easily book for a pick up by a local travel agency
